do 30. 9. / Columbia University's Institute for Ideas and Imagination vyhlašuje open call pro umělkyně a umělce

TZ: Czernecki Educational Foundation (EFC), a leading Polish philanthropic foundation supporting the arts and humanities in Central and Eastern Europe and fostering international exchange of ideas.

EFC is pleased to announce that applications are now open for its annual Fellowship at Columbia University's Institute for Ideas and Imagination in Paris.

The Fellowship supports one artist, writer, or researcher from Central or Eastern Europe for a full academic year of research, creative work, and interdisciplinary exchange, alongside an international cohort of scholars, artists, and writers at the Institute.

The 2027-2028 application portal is now open! Click here to apply. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2026.

Each year the Institute brings together a cohort of up to 15 Fellows, half of them Columbia faculty and post-docs, the other half artists and writers from around the world, to spend a year together in work and conversation.

The Fellowship stipend is $75,000 for a full academic year at Reid Hall in Paris (September 2027 through May 2028). Fellows have their own office at the Institute, administrative and research support, and access to Columbia’s libraries and various research facilities in Paris and in Europe.

We accept three categories of applicants. You will be asked to indicate under which category you are applying.

The Columbia University faculty category includes: Columbia tenured and tenure-track faculty, Barnard, and Teacher’s College. Adjunct professors and lecturers are only eligible if their term of appointment extends beyond the fellowship year.

The Columbia University post-doctoral category is for candidates in any subject who have completed their PhD and defended their dissertation at Columbia University between September 2024 and December 31, 2026.

The creative arts category is for applicants within the creative arts (including visual and sound arts/film/composing/writing) who are not affiliated with Columbia University. (Please remember that in order to be eligible in this category, you cannot – regardless of nationality – be residing permanently in the United States.)

Columbia faculty should notify their department chairs or Dean of their intention to apply for this fellowship. The Institute staff can, upon request, direct applicants to the appropriate university office to discuss the financial implications of an award. Only faculty are eligible to apply for a single semester fellowship.

Please note: We cannot accommodate groups.
